Courtney Samok is a veteran Freytag’s Florist designer. She is the creative lead behind many of our exclusive and seasonal bouquets and the creator of the photographed arrangements on our website. Besides being multi-talented, Courtney is adorable, bubbly, genuine and great fun to be around. Her charismatic personality is reflected in her design style. And that’s why we chose her for our inaugural Designer Spotlight. Here is Courtney’s Freytag’s Florist Designer Spotlight interview along with some of her beautiful work.
Where did you grow up? I’m from Cedar Park.
As a kid, did you get into trouble? What was the worst thing you did? I was around five, and without telling my parents, a friend and I went door to door offering handyman services. (People actually let us in to inspect their appliances, etc.) My Dad was frantically driving through the neighborhood looking for me when he found us pulling a red wagon full of his tools down the sidewalk. Needless to say, I was in big trouble.
As a local Austinite, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done? See question two.
What do you do in your spare time? I binge watch NetFlix, and I enjoy running. Right now I’m in training for my next 10k.
What inspires you? Nature and my mom are my biggest inspirations.
How long have you been a floral designer; how long have you been with Freytag’s Florist? I became interested in floral design in high school. I’ve been a Freytag’s designer for just over four years.
When are you completely satisfied with your work? I am proud when I see my work displayed and appreciated by others, like the Longhorns home games arrangements we do for the Royal Memorial VIP suites and lounges.
Which flower do you enjoy working with the most? Sunflowers, because they make me happy. I think they make everybody happy.
What’s your favorite Amy’s flavor? Mexican Vanilla and Cookie Dough.
What is your most treasured possession? My dog Riley Belle.
