For a florist like Freytag’s, romance is an everyday topic. But August is special because it’s National Romance Awareness Month. Romance Awareness Month is not the same as “Creative Romance Month” which is the month of February. This is a celebration of romance and an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of romance in our relationships. You can observe Romance Awareness Month in many ways, no matter if you are coupled up or single. Romance is for everyone.
Express yourself.
If you are in a relationship:
Take the time to notice and appreciate your partner’s efforts no matter how big or how small. Write a special thank you note every day of the month and stash it in a different place where they will find it each day.
Cook a favorite meal and surprise them with a romantic dinner for two at home or at your special picnic spot.
Have a candle lit, hot bubble bath (glass of wine and chocolates optional) ready for them when they get home.
Take a day off together and go to a favorite day trip destination or discover a new one.
Do you have a way with words? Write a poem or song.
Are you an artist? Create a painting of something your partner holds dear.
Buy something pretty for yourself.
If you are single:
Host a dinner and romantic movie night for your BFF’s.
Fall in love with something new. Always wanted to dabble in painting or pottery? Take an art class. Give yoga a try. Whatever it is you want to do, but haven’t yet, take a class or YouTube it and do it!
Make extra time this month to do more of what you love. Read a book, meditate, do more of whatever it is that helps boost your mood.
Take a day off to replenish yourself. Go for a walk in nature or treat yourself to a massage.
Call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while to tell them you love them.
Earn your “World’s Best Auntie/Uncle” patch.
For the generous couple or single:
Spread the love. Think about the lovebirds in your life that could use a little help getting out of a romantic rut. Offer to babysit for a night or invite the kiddos to a sleep over at your place so their parents can have some over-night alone time.
